I am currently living in Italy and it is due to my partner who is Italian. We moved less than a month ago after a year in Cyprus. He’s a chef so in a way I’ve been following him to different countries. I really like living in Italy, the food is amazing and there are so many beautiful places to visit.
I really like the Czech Republic, I visited 5 years ago during winter and it was stunning. There is a lot to discover over there. Stunning cathedral and museums. Even through the cold it felt like a very warm place to be.
I believe it is all about motivation, if you really want to go then you need to try until it works. This could be the experience of your life and change it completely!

I am currently living in England but planning on moving back to Spain in the upcoming months. I spent my early twenties travelling and exploring Europe before settling in Spain where I fell in love with the country, culture and of course the amazing climate.
Athens! I am completely head over heels in love with Athens and Greece in general. It is such a lively country with great weather, great food and amazing history.
Research! My top tip is always research as much as you can about the country you want to move to and then take the leap! Moving abroad can be very scary but it is also one of the best decisions I ever made. You will meet people from all over the world and make friends and memories for life.

Position: International Recruiter

I moved to Italy 4 years ago to join my partner after 7 years of long distance relationships between Belgium and Italy. I love everything about Italy, the warm culture, the colorful cities, the landscapes, the food, etc. It’s a chaotic country in some way, but I wouldn’t go back to Belgium.
My favorite destination is Lisbon, because it’s a very joyful place, people are happy about living in Portugal, thanks to the enormous possibilities the country offers. I went a few times in Lisbon, and Faro and I just can’t wait to go back. To taste a good Pasteis de nata.
My top tip would be to go for it, don’t be scared about the unknown. Each country works differently, with its own culture. But this is what I love the most about working and living abroad, you get to immerse yourself in the culture of the others, and trust me you will grow from it a lot.

Position: Team Lead

My partner is Slovene, so I decided to move to Slovenia in 2020. I am the happiest here. People are so nice and landscapes are breathtaking!
Athens in Greece. After discovering this capital last year, I can say that I really enjoyed the vibes there. It is full of life, pieces of history and good food!
Travelling for me is what’s best in life, it helps you grow and discover so many things about yourself and others. So my advice would be: Just go for it!

Veronika
Position: Dutch Recruiter
Current location: Czech Republic
I was born in the Czech Republic, but I grew up in Belgium. Eventually, for love, I permanently moved to the Czech Republic in 2015. I love nature here and I also feel very safe in this country. People often come together, are friendly and let’s not forget that it’s very cheap to live here!
My favorite destination is Barcelona! I visited it and immediately felt at home. It doesn’t feel like a big city and I like that people go out after work to eat tapas for example, which by the way are perfect if you want to discover new dishes.
My tip is to enjoy yourself above all else. You will make memories and friendships that will stay with you for the rest of your life. With an open mindset, immerse yourself in a new environment and culture.
Kimberley
Position: Dutch Recruiter
Current location: South Africa
I first came to South Africa 10 years ago for an exchange program. Back then I was located in the Eastern Cape but had the chance to travel all over the country and fell in love with the nation. Once I graduated, I found a job here, then met my husband and 7 years later I am still in Cape Town.
One of my favorite destinations that we offer is Greece. I love the people, the food and way of life there. Athens itself is such a buzzing city, with many cute little cafes but also has such stunning architecture and a beautiful history to it. Definitely worth visiting or better yet, moving too!
Life can be scary no matter where you are living. So my tip is to take the chance and move abroad! Experience a new culture, meet new people, try new dishes! You will not only gain many new experiences but also grow as a person! It is an opportunity that I feel everyone should grasp with both hands!
Roel
Position: Dutch Recruiter
Current Location: South Africa
I met my South African wife while still studying. After 7 years in The Netherlands, travelling to South Africa often we made the move to South Africa in 2011. I love that I live close to two very modern cities in Johannesburg and Pretoria and that I’m very close to nature where we can wind down and relax.
My favorite destination would be Barcelona. I love the hustle and bustle of the city, the vibe you experience and the fact that it has a combination of the historic city center and some ultra modern architecture as well. A big plus is of course that you have access to a beach practically in the city center!
Before permanently moving abroad, visit the place you want to go to multiple times. Engage with locals, learn about the challenges, and understand the reality beyond a holiday. Every place has pros and cons, so be aware and prepared.

I would say Lisbon! I’ve been there recently and it is a very lively city with loads of stuff to do and to visit. It is a place that gives a home to every food, culture or nature lover, Lisbon has got it all. Besides that, it is very multicultural and almost everyone speaks English which is a big plus!
Don’t think too much and just do it! You will never regret it and it will take you on the adventure of a lifetime!

Position: International Recruiter
Current Location: Malta
Last year I went to Athens, therefore, I would pick this as my favorite, besides Malta. It has so much history and there are so many great places to see. One of my favorites was the few from Acropolis down to the whole city. Also, the Greek food is just amazing.
Stay motivated and eager to learn new things and meet new people. That’s what this is all about. Dive into the new life and learn more about the traditions of the country, the language and get to know the people. This way you are going to have the best time of your life.
Melody
Position: International Recruiter
Current Location: Spain
My top choice is Lisbon. I adore the Iberian Peninsula, the breathtaking climate, and the open-mindedness of the locals. Moreover, its proximity to central Europe makes it an ideal destination for anyone venturing out on their own for the first time, away from family.
Immerse yourself in the local culture from day one. Embrace the language, try traditional cuisines, and connect with locals beyond your work circle. It’s the key to truly experiencing the richness of your new home and creating lifelong memories.

Barcelona is my favourite Working Adventures destination with it’s vibrant energy, stunning architecture, beautiful beaches, sunny weather, delicious food, and lively nightlife. Gaudi’s masterpieces and the Gothic Quarter capture my heart every time I visit.
Embrace cultural differences with an open mind. Show a willingness to adapt and respect local customs and traditions. It will help you connect with people, build new friendships, and make the most of your experience working abroad.
Lydia
Position: Online Marketing
Current Location: Kenya
Hi there! I am Lydia and I am currently in Africa. After my studies in Psychology I didn’t know what I wanted to do, so I decided to travel through Africa solo. I fell in love with nature, the people, the culture, wildlife, everything!
Definitely Barcelona! One of my best friends lives there, so I have visited quite frequently. Honestly, Spanish culture is just amazing! The food, the dancing, the picturesque streets, the shopping areas, the sangria!!!
Even though it might seem scary, when you are actually doing it, you will see that it is way less scary than you initially thought. I 100% recommend you to take the step, you will learn so much from it and it’s honestly life changing in the best way possible!

With an adventurous soul, I left Belgium for Portugal, kickstarting a 9-year journey through Lisbon, Amsterdam, and Ibiza. Embracing change, I found calm in the tranquil countryside of Ibiza’s North—surrounded by nature and hidden calas.
Falling in love with Portugal was inevitable. Lisbon’s blend of city life, history, art and nature stole my heart. Exploring the streets on Sunday mornings was pure bliss. Escaping the city? Just a short drive away you can relax at the beach, surf, or immerse in lush green mountains. Lisboa saudade!
Carlijn
Position: Head of Marketing
Current Location: Italy
I previously lived, traveled and did internships abroad. A few years ago I met my current partner in Puglia (Italy). After 3 years of traveling back and forth, I decided to quit my job and apartment and move here and never looked back!
Hard to choose, but my favorite destination has to be Greece. The country has hundreds of beautiful islands, friendly people, is affordable, good food and it is easy to travel. In addition, the language is fun and there are many more reasons. I visit Greece every year!
Don’t overthink it! Moving abroad can indeed be exciting, I understand that better than anyone. But often a new destination is just a short 2-hour flight away and you can always go home tomorrow. But I bet you don’t really want to go back at all!

Lisbon – the city that has it all. You’ll never have problems finding a delicious Sangria in one of the trendy rooftop bars/restaurants. A late night snack after a fun night in Bairro Alto? No problem! Combining the sunny weather with the relaxed way of life close to the beach – How could anyone resist?
